This month's mini-album kit pulls together neutral papers and bright accents. I painted the cover with a coat of gesso and Speckled Egg paint, and then misted over the cover with a few spritzes of Speckled Egg ink, dabbing away the excess. Once the cover dried, I layered strips of ribbon and paper, and added clusters of colorful pins and buttons.

The inner cover followed the nearly the same process as the outer one, without the addition of the paint. The first page of the album is covered with misted and painted circles, using Speckled Egg and Lemon Drops. The 7gypsies scalloped cards peek out from between the pages of the album, serving as tabs. Each card includes a subtitle that is the focus of that section of the album.

At this time of year, the stephanotis flowers on our vines are blooming like crazy, and they keep the neighborhood well-supplied with flowers for making leis during graduation season. I used the main kit here to document a few photos that my husband snapped of me making a lei for a graduating senior.

In addition to including my journaling at the top of the layout, I also worked in Hawaiian proverbs (collected by Mary Kawena Pukui) and their translations using the Ormolu labels.

Rather than place the stencil on paper and mist over it, as I did in the lower right corner of this layout, I misted the stencil itself and then pressed it on the paper.

This layout, which uses the main kit, is about the most talkative, personable woman I know: my mom. My mom was an incredible seamstress, making a lot of my clothes when I was younger, so it just felt right to use the retro pattern on this layout.

After cutting out the title, I colored it with gold, yellow, and aqua watercolor pencils and brushed water across the letters. I lightly spritzed some Speckled Egg mist (using a 1:4 reinker to water ratio in a mini-mister) over it.

For the main kit challenge, I attached some small paper clips here and there as fasteners.
