I chose the cooler colors from this month's kit to complement Alekha sitting under a Christmas wreath. How cute are those chipboard banner buttons?? I adhered them to the top of the page and then strung embroidery thread through the holes. The turquoise digital label on the left side of the page is from Rhonna Farrer. I was so excited to find the free font I used on this page. The font was a fabulous find after an extended search for a calligraphic font that resembled "Compendium" by Alejandro Paul, which is on my wish list. This font is a free font called Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. You can google it to find a free download on the web. |

For this layout, I used elements in the project kit primarily. The sheet of rubon butterflies from 7 Gypsies is stunning. The colors are so gorgeous that I wanted to use the sheet as a whole for maximum effect. Since I wanted it to fit vertically across the 8.5 x 11 sheet of vellum, I cut the rubon sheet in half with my paper trimmer. I applied the top half to the top of the page and the bottom half to the bottom of the page, leaving enough room for my photo in between. I love the frosted "wallpaper" effect it gives to the layout. I then added the embellishments. The diecut used as a base under the flower is from Papertrey Ink, as is the stamped image on the diecut. I loved the little flags from October Afternoon ... can't get enough of those! |

When I saw this month's kits, the words that came to mind were "the land of milk and honey". I love the creamy, honey colored and buttery tones in the kit. I put this card together very quickly using that phrase as inspiration. I used the backing from the Prima flower package and diecut using a Papertrey Ink die. I then backed it with an identical diecut cut from white cardstock. I applied the cow and calf rubon directly on top of the plastic Prima backing sheet. Then I added strips of patterned paper as shown, a bit of gold trim and a paper flag, a stamped sentiment (Papertrey Ink) and a button in the middle of it all. |

I decided to do a little collaging with the squares from the October Afternoon Farmhouse pattern in the main kit. I chose to keep most of the squares in the same color family so to provide a neutral background for the pop of color from the yellow polka dot sheet, the prima flowers and the purple in Alekha's scarf. I also created the dotted line background and text in Photoshop. The fonts used are: Novecento Wide (title) and Pompadour (the numerals "26"), (both free fonts) and Mrs. Eaves Italic (the subheading) which is a pay font. I love the mix of the vintage patterned papers with the modernity of the fonts. |

I took this photo of Alekha while we were in NC over Thanksgiving and thought it would be a great shot to simulate a child's eager anticipation for snowfall. I used the Coredinations Cardstock in the kit and punched the border with a Martha Stewart snowflake punch. I then misted the Maya Road snowflake with Sprinklers from October Afternoon in "Paper Doily" and then adhered the photo and the embellies as shown. Easy peasy, and I love the romantic effect! |

I have to tell you that I am in LOVE with the december kit. The colors alone are amazing, not to mention all the gorgeous goodies inside the kit. I loved pairing the buttery yellows with gray and black to create this layout. Details: The digi brush at the top of the page is from Rhonna Farrer. The swirly script font is the pay font Burgues Script by Alejandro Paul of Sudtipos Font Foundry and is available at Veer.com. It's rather pricey, but I'd been eyeing it for years, and finally took the plunge as a Christmas gift to me! The wood button is from a previous kit, and the pinked squares and diecut banner are from Papertrey Ink dies. The quote is a favorite. |
